MIT created a system that can identify a recipe using pictures of food. Researchers at MIT have designed a system named as Pic2Recipe, which will provide you the best recipe of the food by providing a pic from the social media. This system was made using a food-identifying algorithm built by Swiss scientists in 2014 with a database of aprox. 1,01,000 food images. The system currently has an accuracy rate of about 65% the only issue with the tech is the images themselves. When people take pictures of food item, there’s a lot of difference in the style the pic has been taken: whether the pic is taken from close up or far away, whether it’s of the single item or of the multiples, part of a complete dish.
The team admits that there’s still a lots of work to be done on pic2recipe, and while CSAIL doesn’t have any plans to bring it directly to market.
