Weather it is party starter or an evening snacks onion pakodas are the evergreen snacks item. No one can escape from this mouthwatering recipe. All you need the Gram flour which is also known as chickpea flour or besan in Hindi, nicely sliced onions, salt as per you taste, red chilli and green chilli , coriander which are finely chopped and mixed by pouring water to it slowly and firmly. The difficulty level of this recipe is NONE. You can sprinkle chaat masala to your recipe if you are a taggy flavor lover. Onion Pakoda ca be served with any chutney but it recommended to have it with Coriander Chutney or Pudina Chutney.

  • Sliced onions
  • Green chillies, finely cut
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • Fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp ajwain
  • Salt
  • 150 gm gram flour
  • 100 ml ice water


  1. Take a bowl, mix onions, green chillies, red chilli powder, coriander, ajwain and salt.
  2. Add besan to the above mixture and slowly pour water in it, to have the thickish consistency.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet. Once the oil is ready pour in a spoonful of the batter at a time.
  4. Deep fry it for a few minutes. Serve hot with any chutney of your choice.
